An Occoneechee State Park Wedding
Sara and Tommy were MARRIED (YAY!!) on June 12th, 2016 and had a beautiful Sunday Occoneechee State Park Wedding.
These two. Oh, you guys, these two. I talk about matches made in heaven all the time. It’s funny, because the way I talk about it you would think I am just saying it because it sounds nice. Well, I promise I am not and that totally applies to these two. They really found one another on common ground. Their faith brought them together and really made the two of them blossom into even more beautiful human beings in their love for Christ.
Sara and Tommy’s engagement session (you can find that here) was such a fun time. I felt like we almost talked to one another more than we even took photos, but we did take a lot of photos. And a lot of super CUTE ones too. I got to know these two well enough to see the type of relationship they share and boy is it fun! I knew their wedding day would be even more fun and sure enough it was.
Their day was simple, happy, and most importantly filled with their love for one another. I was so happy to watch them finally say their “I DOs” to one another as I know quite a few people were too including them. I mean, just look at the cheeses on their faces! I just LOVE it!
When did you know he was the one and vice versa?
Sara: I knew Tommy was the one when he didn’t give up every time I got scared and tried to revert to being just friends.
Tommy: I knew Sara was the one when she tried her best during their annual month long trip to Florida in 2014 to scare me away and by the end of the month I missed her like crazy.
What’s the one thing you both love each other the most for?
Other than our common faith, that no matter how many times we disagree that we always end up talking it through.
How did he propose?
For the 2015 Virginia Tech football season, Tommy bought three season tickets instead of his normal two, so all three of us could go to the games. At some point during the season, we talked about when we went to April 16 Memorial and War Memorial after the 2014 spring game, but Jeremiah didn’t remember what they looked like. Since the November 21 game was the last home game of the 2015 season, Tommy suggested that we should go by both memorials before the game. When we got up to Blacksburg that morning, Tommy rushed Jeremiah and me as we walked towards the memorials. As we got closer to them, he told us he wanted to go to the War Memorial Chapel. Neither Jeremiah nor I had a clue anything was up. Once inside, he told us to sit on a pew. He handed me his phone told us to watch this video of a guy making one of the rings I’d liked on Etsy. Tommy scolded us to focus on the video when Jeremiah and I started dancing a little in our seats to the music. About the time that I realized the music was a Toby Mac song and I started wondering why this video, which I thought was on YouTube would be set to a Christian song, the video came to a close with a screen that said, “Sara, will you marry me?” I was completely shocked. At some point, Tommy pulled out a box with the ring it in from his coat, and according to Jeremiah, I said, “Of course! I mean, yes!”
