A Ocean Club Wedding
Chrissy with her big cheesin’ smile and Josh with his heart of gold, were married on June 24th, 2017 and had their wedding along the sands of Atlantic beach. Followed with having their reception at the Ocean Club.
First of all…I think one of the very first things I noticed about Chrissy was her smile! I am pretty sure I have never seen her not smiling actually. However, I can say that I see that smile go to a whole new level whenever Josh is around. I mean, if you don’t believe me from this post alone, take a look at their engagement photos (you can find that here.) From then on, I knew they shared a love that was built in Christ, faith, and something that you don’t even have to talk about out loud, you can just see it.
Chrissy had to be one of the CALMEST brides I have ever seen on their wedding day. I mean, every little detail was SO well planned. That gorgeous teal color she chose for her bridesmaids and all the pretty pretty sunflowers. Everything came together so beautifully. Josh on the other hand, he was a bit nervous! Maybe more excited with anticipation than actually nervous per say, but I think EVERYONE including myself were ready and on guard of what his reaction would seeing his bride coming down the aisle.
As the music began and Chrissy made her way down the sandy aisle, Josh clenched his face with overwhelming tears of pure happiness. It was SOMETHING else!!! I think pretty much everyone’s hearts stopped beating for a solid two seconds, just because the emotion was so real and so raw. Chrissy of course, was smiling like no other and before we knew it they kissed and where making their way with cheery smiles back down the aisle as husband and wife. HUSBAND AND WIFE Y’ALL!!! EEE!!!!
When and where did you both meet?
We both technically met in high school during Chrissy’s freshman year. We were just friends for 3 years before starting to date the summer before Chrissy’s senior year of high school in August 2011.
When did you know he was the one and vice versa?
Chrissy: I pretty much knew he was special from the very beginning. I remember praying everyday that if Josh was not the one for me to make it known because I knew I was falling in love with him. Well, he never went anywhere and my love for him just continued to grow!
Josh: I knew Chrissy was the one from the moment in college when I was at my lowest point in life and she was there always by my side encouraging me to not give up and continue to have faith. From then on I wasn’t going to give up on her or us!
What’s the one thing you both love each other the most for?
Chrissy: I love how he is everything I am not and how he balances me out perfectly. He knows exactly when and how to calm me, how to encourage me, how to get on my nerves, and how to be honest with me when I need it. As cheesy as it may sound, my life would not be complete without him. He is the half that makes me whole!
Josh: I love Chrissy for how big her heart is. She is an amazing woman who tries her best at everything she does. She makes me a better man by challenging me each and everyday!
Josh and I knew we were going to get married a few years before the proposal. At least, I knew it. He kept saying he wasn’t quite ready for that next step in life and had to keep in prayer about it. I knew that one day he would be ready for it and was hoping that he would be ready the summer before I started graduate school so we could marry the following summer after I graduated. All of summer basically passed and I started graduate school. I finally accepted the fact that it wasn’t going to happen. Early August, my best friend, Melissa, had a trip planned to visit me at JMU. We planned to go to a sunflower field to take pictures. Since Josh and I had basically perfected a long distance relationship, we knew if there was a weekend we were free that we always told the other to see if we could plan a trip to see each other. Well, Josh happened to be free that weekend and asked to come visit as well. He said he could go to the sunflower field with us. Melissa decided this was a great idea because she could practice using her new camera taking pictures of us in the sunflower fields. So the weekend was set! The Thursday before, one of my other best friends, Lannie, texted Melissa and I to tell us she was just told she had the weekend off work and wanted to come as well. Since I do not get to see them a lot, I was super excited at this and all the details completely seemed to have fallen in place coincidentally. However, they did not. Josh had this planned all along. So Saturday morning we all get up and head to the sunflower field. Josh and I take pictures and we pick sunflowers! It was a great morning (except for the fact that Josh kept walking away from me and trying to move to other spots where people were not behind us – little did I know he was trying to find the perfect spot)! Right when I say that I am getting hot and think we took enough pictures and picked enough sunflowers, Melissa asks is there any other pose we would like her to take a picture of. This was apparently Josh’s cue because he said, “How about this pose?” When I turn around he was down on one knee pulling out a ring box. I was completely surprised and so excited! Turns out he was ready to take that next step in life, he just didn’t want me to know that he was! When we left, everyone suggested that we go get lunch. When we got to the restaurant, my family and Josh’s were there waiting for us. It was an amazing day and I have no idea how everyone kept it a secret! It is definitely a day I will remember for the rest of my life!
