Tonight you’re going to meet Berkley, 2015 SENIOR from Halifax County High School.
I am so lucky to know this sweet young lady and she really reminds me so much of myself she I was her age! Back when I moonlighted at Molasses Grill in Halifax, VA, she came in hired as a hostess. If you don’t know what a hostess job entails it has a lot to do with talking and greeting customers. Sitting them at their tables, making sure they have menus, making sure you sat them correctly, freaking out when you don’t, changing the seating around to fix your mistake, all while juggling helping the busy servers AND answering phone calls! It can be a bit stressful and overwhelming and Berkley came in as a shy girl that barely spoke a word. I remember her being pretty nervous about it (it was her first job as far as I know) but did her job well. It was interesting considering she’s a horse rider and that scares the living day lights out of me. I don’t understand how horse lovers/riders can walk around and love them as if they were a tiny little toy poodle, but she does it and she loves it. Over time while working with her, I got to know her a lot better. She really opened up and just owned herself, ya know? It’s really cool when you can witness someone go through something like that and I admire her.
Anyway, on to her session! We did this on her family farm where her horse, Jasmine’s home is located. Her, her sister and I had so much fun. Just laughing. Walking. Dodging cow pies. It was simply a beautiful summer afternoon that couldn’t have gone more perfect!
