A Woodburn Historical House Wedding
Courtney and Justin were married on May 21st, 2016 and had the most beautiful Woodburn Historic House Wedding.
Courtney and Justin are such as whirlwind of fun to be around and I KNOW all of their family and friends will say the same. I can’t believe their *finally* married myself. To put it into perspective, Evelyn, contacted me back in 2014 about booking this wedding for Courtney! I am SO serious! I’ve been with them now through their engagement session (you can see that here) and Courtney’s GORGEOUS bridals (you can see that here). So, it has been a long time coming and now that I have had a chance to get to know these two so well (YES I CRIED AT THE WEDDING) it means even more to me that they asked me to photograph their day for them.
Their wedding day was beautifully planned and decorated by Selena Cambell of Middle Sister Design. I was SWOOOONING over all of the amazing details. I couldn’t get enough! Everything combined with the Woodburn Historic House was out of this world. Although it did pour for like…20 minutes…the rest of the evening was absolutely perfect!
When and where did you both meet?
Lee Hall – IE 284. Spring Semester 2009. Courtney couldn’t help but notice a “new kid” in class. Justin couldn’t help but notice the loud girl that always came in late. Eventually Courtney realized Justin may understand the material, so she used her girlish charm to get homework help. The homework help led to study groups which led to a pure friendship. That friendship turned into a romance Spring Semester of Senior Year (2011) and the rest is history.
When did you know he was the one and vice versa?
Courtney: There was a moment my senior year of college. We were standing in my kitchen and he went to leave. We had an awkward high five exchange. It was very move-esque in the fact that when the door closed I got this big stupid grin on my face and just walked around in a daze. I knew he was the perfect match for me.
Justin: I knew Courtney was the one when she always (and continues) to laugh at my terrible and corny jokes.
What’s the one thing you both love each other the most for?
Courtney: Justin can always make me laugh. That’s what made me fall in love with him and keeps making me fall in love with him over and over again very day. Even on the worst days, he gives me something to laugh about.
Justin: I love Courtney for always telling me what I need to hear even if I don’t particularly like it.
How did he propose?
Justin proposed to Courtney after hiking the 3.5 mile trail to the top of Table Rock. Little did Justin know that this “hike” was 3.5 miles of straight stairs. (At one point, Justin thought about just proposing at a nice lookout halfway up because he didn’t know if he was going to make it to the top. His idea of “hiking” had always been walking through the woods, not this crazy climb.) Finally, reaching the top of the mountain, Justin caught his breath and asked Courtney to go out to the ledge for a picture. “Look out over the lake – it’ll be one of those ‘artsy’ pictures, you know?” Courtney laughed but obliged and kept waiting to hear the sound of the camera. “Are you done yet?! What’s taking so long?” When she turned around, Justin was down on one knee, holding a beautiful ring, and stammered through the words, “Will you marry me?” Needless to say, through the tears, Courtney said “YES!” Many congratulatory remarks were received on the hike down (which was much easier than the one up!) from other hikers. And Courtney is still disappointed she didn’t get her “artsy” lookout picture that day.
