Meet Emily and Jason!
They were married on October 11th, 2014 at Miller Cabin in Scottsburg, Virginia.
Although the weather was dreary and a little wet, the day was full of wonders. Emily and her ladies got ready at Berry Hill Mansion in South Boston, while Jason anxiously awaited seeing his bride for the first time right outside the hotel in the courtyard for their first look. Such high emotions for these two. You can feel the love radiating from them in these photos. It was such a blessing to be able to capture these moments!
All of their family and friends joined them soon after at the Cabin, which was one of my favorite parts about the day. Such a beautiful rustic fall wedding! I wish you could see every single little detail that friends and family helped design with Emily. She really had a vision with this place! So many secret rooms and places to decorate with a wild flower look and pumpkins! I just couldn’t get enough (hence all the detail photos…sorry not sorry)!
Emily’s mother, Lisa, made ALL of the desserts! INCREDIBLE! I only wish I could describe how delicious they were, but you just had to be there.
Now, on to a little bit about the couple!
How They Met:
Emily and Jason have known each other for quite some time. They met each other playing AYSO soccer when they were in grade school but didn’t know that later on in middle school they would become good friends. Such good friends in fact that they became THE couple everyone admired at Halifax County High School.
Fast forward years later in college, Jason and Emily decided that since they were so far apart from one another (Jason at William and Mary – Emily at Appalachian State) they decided to focus on their schooling and date other people. Funny thing is, when love has you by the heart strings, you just can’t let go. Jason always felt that no matter what no one could be Emily, the love of his life. After about three years of being apart, the two decided to rekindle the relationship and haven’t looked back since.
Jason woke me up very early on a cold November morning. He told me to get dressed, but wouldn’t say what we were doing. When I got in the car, he tied a blindfold over my eyes. He then drove us on to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We parked and I took my blindfold off. We hiked up Humpback Rocks in the pitch black and sat down on the summit snuggled under a blanket and watched the sun come up. Once all the other people had left, Jason pulled out the ring box and proposed. Afterwards, we got coffee and tea and pastries and went by the library book sale in Charlottesville. We followed that with dinner and celebratory drinks.
The one thing you love most about one another?
Jason to Emily:
There are so many things that I love about Emily. I can’t narrow it down to just one. At minimum I can list two: I love Emily the most for her independence, and her support and encouragement, especially while I’ve been in nursing school.
Emily to Jason:
I don’t really know how to pick just one thing. I love that he is so willing to do whatever I want us to do- including getting up long before the sun to train for half marathons, driving in to the mountains for long hikes, and stopping at every book store we pass.
