Katie + Martin

The Stockroom at 230 Wedding – Raleigh, NC

Katie and Martin were married on May 19th, 2018 at The Stockroom at 230 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

You guys. Katie and Martin are THOSE king of people that you just know you’re going to fall so in love with when you first meet them. I mean, I know I sure did when I did their engagement session (you can find that here). Katie booked me just about…TWO YEARS in advanced too you guys. So, when this day…their WEDDING DAY was finally rolling around the corner…we were nothing but SO EXCITED!!!

The day started off…raining. Oh my goodness. It was kind of insane how much rain there was, but, luckily everything was planned to already be inside the GORGEOUS Stockroom! So no worries there! I am telling you it was pure PERFECTION y’all! And Shawn from Shawn Schindler Events along side so many other incredible vendors listed at the end of the post, worked MAGIC! It was SUCH a gorgeous space and the rain didn’t even remotely stop Katie and Martin from having the BEST DAY EVER!

Katie and Martin chose to do a First Look and there was so much calm before the nerves. As soon as the two saw each other, all of that melted away. A few happy tears were shed. Hugs were given. It was SO precious! All they could do was RAV about how the First Look was the best idea ever (I AGREE!) and for those couples reading this in denial…keep scrolling because I promise, Martin still felt those SAME feelings as Katie walked down the aisle to him.

I am SO happy for you both!!! Congratulations again you two!!! I can’t wait to hug you both in person again, cause TACOS!!!

Their Love Story

When and where did you both meet?

We met in 2010 at East Carolina University.

When did you know he was the one and vice versa?

Martin:  I fell in love with Katie after being on the phone with her for many hours one night. I hate talking on the phone and if I was willing to talk to her until 6 am then I knew she was special. She talked about how giving she was to her sorority, and her younger sister. That is when I knew she would care about me like she cares about others in her life.

Katie: At the time Martin and I started dating I was my younger sister’s caregiver. We were both college kids with little responsibilities and Martin changed his whole life to help me care for my sister. It showed me that he was loving and a family man who saw how important this was to me.

What is the one thing you both love each other the most for?

Martin: I love her willingness to try new things, I love the fact that she loves to travel with me, I love her generosity and willingness to give to others, not monetarily but time, and I love that she always put other people ahead of her.

Katie: I love Martin’s ability to laugh and love other people, he really does get along with most people and cares how they are doing in life. He would give you everything he had to make sure you are okay.

How did he propose?

Martin is original from San Francisco, and decided that he wanted to take me into the city during our most recent trip to California. We got into the city at 8am after taking the train in from San Jose. The only thing we had planned was a boat tour around the bay later that evening. We traveled throughout the city on foot and some uber, going to different neighborhoods and exploring. Later when we were on the boat tour, Katie was taking selfies (with her selfie stick) and Martin said that was when he knew he wanted to propose because she “looked so cute”. Katie walked over to Martin and asked if he was okay (he was acting kind of distant), Martin stated that he was good. Martin then looked at Katie and said “I had a great day with you”, Katie responded “I did too”, and Martin said “I can’t wait to have more with you, will you marry me?”. Katie started ugly crying and a kind stranger came from the inside of the boat to take pictures of them as they went past the Golden Gate Bridge. It was truly a magical moment.
