A Danville, Virginia Wedding at River Oak Church of God
Leslie and Travis were married on August 20th, 2016 and had such a sweet and nothing short of and emotional ceremony at the In Danville, Virginia at the River Oak Church of God.
Where do I even begin with these two? When I first sat down and met with Leslie to talk about details of their wedding, Travis had not yet arrived. Leslie was so sweet to talk with and she seemed just a tad shy. This is nothing I never don’t expect when meeting with a bride-to-be. I mean, there’s lots of very important decisions they are making and thoughts running through their minds. Well, let me assure you guys…as soon as Travis sat down, Leslie completely lit up. HUGE smile on her face. Lots of giggles and the way she looked at him. Oh, my! I wish you could have been there with us.
Soon after we met we did their engagement session (you can find that here). As if I couldn’t already tell how much these two were a complete match made in heaven for each other. Their engagement session was on another level you guys. The chemistry these two share is unreal. Their wedding day was all of that times ten at the very least. When God has a plan and unites two souls like this together, it’s a raging and burning fire you can never put out. From the moment these two saw each other on their day for the first time, to the sweet prayer they shared in just before the ceremony. It was simply put…just beautiful.
When and where did you both meet?
We were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend in January 2016. We met for that first date at Starbucks in Danville. We talked for 3 hours straight and had to leave because the store was closing. We’ve been inseparable ever since.
When did you know he was the one and vice versa?
Leslie: The night we met I knew he COULD be the one. I couldn’t believe I had met a guy who seemed to have everything on my “checklist,” at least on the surface. Over time I found out that he really is a Christian gentleman, fun, professional, easy to talk to, and many other qualities that I adore. Plus as a 5 ft 9 woman, I always really loved the fact that he is so tall (6 ft 6)! We truly have had a “whirlwind romance,” but when God brings people together, you just know it’s right.
Travis: I had an idea that she was the one by the end of the first date, but I was 100% certain by the end of our second date. It’s just one of those things that when you’ve prayed for a particular person and you finally come together you just know in your gut and heart that they’re the one. Side note: During marriage counseling, the pastor told us it was crazy how compatible we are. Here’s even more proof. We took a test to find out our “Love Language.” There are 5 love languages that people can have, that are the ways they express and feel love. We took the test separately and the pastor scored the results. It turns out we have the exact same love languages in the exact same order. The pastor said he has never had that happen before!
What’s the one thing you both love each other the most for?
Leslie: Even though its almost impossible to pick just one, the thing I love the most about Travis is that he is a man I can be proud of and that I know I can count on in any situation.
Travis: That’s a tough one because there isn’t one particular thing, but what I do love about her is her compassion, her tenderness, her honesty, and her devotion.
How did he propose?
Travis proposed to me simply but sweetly. One Sunday afternoon at his house, during a quiet moment, I asked him what he was thinking. He said, “are you sure you want to know?” I sad yes, and he said, “Marry me.” After a few seconds of shock, I said absolutely. He didn’t have a ring (which came a torturous month later!) but we both knew then that we wanted to spend our lives together.
