A Saint Thomas Preservation Hall Wedding
These two were married on April 1st, 2017 at the BEAUTIFUL Saint Thomas Preservation Hall in Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.
Oh, Whitney and Colin…where do I begin with you two? Well, first of all, let me begin with Whitney. This girl you guys. From the very moment her rather lengthy email inquiring for her wedding hit my inbox I was a smiling fool! Why? Because I kid you not when she literally wrote me PARAGRAPHS about the sweet love her and Colin share. As I read through her email my smile got bigger and bigger. I just knew we both had an INSTANT connection because I could just see how much she cared about every little detail. Which, those that know me know I may or may not have OCD when it comes to said details…so this made my heart flutter with all the feels!
Fast forward to meeting Colin for the first time during their engagement session (you can find that here) it was an instant “Yes, this makes perfect sense” seeing the two interact with each other. No question they should be husband and wife. Which is what they are now!!! HUSBAND AND WIFE!!! EEE!!!
It has only been a week later (not even) and it’s still kind of crazy to think about! I mean, what is even crazier is how literally PERFECT their whole entire day played out. It was like magic. Whitney and I are both planners and had every thing planned down to the romantic sunset portraits down by the water. The weather was the most ideal you could ever hope for. God just knew. He had his plan. Most importantly, the plan for these two to join together as one.
When and where did you both meet?
eHarmony in the Fall of 2015
When did you know he was the one and vice versa?
Whitney: After a particularly long day at the hospital dealing with some health issues that was filled with lots of tests, poking, prodding and very little answers from the doctors I returned home to my apartment completely beat. About 20 minutes later I received an email from Colin with some of the kindest, most encouraging words a girl could ever read (I had been texting him all day about the events of the day). I had only known Colin for two months at the time, and was amazed that he would take the time to write the words he wrote so early in our relationship, but in that moment I KNEW that Colin was it for me
Colin: We went for froyo one night and I realized I couldn’t fathom seeing myself getting frozen yogurt, or for that matter anything else, with anybody else. That was in February/March; I quickly started working on a plan to propose!
What’s the one thing you both love each other the most for?
I went out of town for the weekend and Colin had hung back to watch my cat and hang out at my apartment. I got home Sunday, I was pretty tired so I put my bags away and then sat down on the couch. About 5 minutes later, Colin hopped up and said “I can’t find my wallet! I’m going to look in my car”. He walked out of the apartment pretty quickly, but I honestly didn’t think much of it. Five minutes after that there was a knock on the door. I was pretty surprised to open it and see two girls from my small group at the door! They told me to put on something nice and that we were going somewhere.
That started a scavenger hunt that included Sweet Spoons (where we go for fro-yo pretty much weekly), a lake we run/walk at, my church, and finally-my parent’s house and childhood home (made even more special by the fact that they put their house on the market that weekend). At every stop there was another member of my small group, holding another clue.
When I walked into the backyard, Colin was standing in the middle of the yard. He said all kinds of loving things that I will never forget and he got down on one knee. I quickly said YES! Then, everybody cheered and I turned to see my small group and parents standing in the house watching; that definitely brought on the water works! We celebrated, had BBQ, and I stared shockingly at my left ring finger! It was an amazing surprise.
