Meet Kathryn and Forrest Howard
They were married on November 7th, 2015.
Oh! I have so much love for these two. When we first met it was like meeting a old friends again for coffee just eager to catch up with one another. I can see Kathryn right now as she pulled out her list of questions for me front and back. We giggled as she went through them all with me. Any bride that knows me knows I LOVE questions! There’s nothing I love more than a well-informed bride!
Kathryn and Forrest have been with me through their engagement session and Kathryn’s bridals. So, I have had quite some time to get to know these two. Listen to me when I say these two share a burning love not only for each other, but for the Lord even more. The friendship that has blossomed out of this time together has been such a blessing and I am so thankful.
Originally the plan was to have the wedding ceremony and reception at Cooper’s Landing in Clarksville, Virginia. However, since there was quite a drizzle of rain that morning, they moved the ceremony to the Clarksville Baptist Church and WOW it was gorgeous!!! I love, love, love old churches! They have such a charm about them, but not nearly as much charm as these two have for one another.
When and where did you both meet?
January 2009 at UNC Greensboro in an art class.
When did you know he was the one and vice versa?
Kathryn: I had never dated anyone before Forrest. But I can honestly remember him walking into this huge lecture art class with over 200 people (I even can remember what he was wearing!) and thinking, “I have to talk to this guy.” From that point on, we became the best of friends and I never doubted for a minute he was the one for me. He captured my heart the moment he walked in.
Forrest: There was never a specific moment, I just always knew she was the one. She was different than anybody else and that’s what I fell in love with.
What’s the one thing you both love each other the most for?
Kathryn: I love Forrest’s love for God. It’s what constantly inspires me and makes me fall in love with him more everyday. He always surprises me and sees all the joys in life.
Forrest: Kathryn is so loving and supportive in all that I do, but most of all she pushes me in my relationship with God. She encourages me to pray more and to listen to Him, and that makes her the best wife in the universe!
How did he propose?
One of the very first places he took me was to look for arrowheads on his parent’s property at Kerr Lake. We have always had wonderful memories on the lake and he took me to the same spot to propose. He had everything set up perfectly even with his Grandmother’s champagne glasses hidden and tucked away in a prepared picnic basket.
Any other special things you would like to mention about you two or the wedding?
From the start of all the wedding planning, one of our first conversations was that we wanted God to be the focus throughout the whole process. We wanted the ceremony message and the meaning of marriage to have more importance than all the other details of a wedding that you can easily get caught up in. Everything fell right into place and with all of our family and friends help, it was the most wonderful and memorable day.
