A Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Wedding
Emily and Roger were very (and I do mean VERY) happily married during their Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Wedding on June 11th, 2016.
Oh, with Emily and Roger where do I begin? When you scroll through these photos you’ll see their happiness radiating through their big smiles and laughs. I have been with these two now throughout their engagement session (you can find that here) and Emily’s gorgeous bridal session we did at Berry Hill Mansion (you can find that here). Over the time I have been able to get to know these two and to understand their story. They trusted in the Lord and that led them to the marriage that they now have today and what a blessing it is!
Emily is just like me in having to have everything PERFECT! Down to every single last detail. It was kind of crazy hearing all of her ideas and already being on the same page with her. If there’s one thing you can tell throughout these photos is Emily’s love for PINK! Not to mention all of the fun details she included in all of her decorations. Their wedding day unfolded perfectly and there really was not one single moment I didn’t witness these two smiling beyond measure!
When and where did you both meet?
We met at the Piedmont Governor’s School for Mathematics, Science, & Technology in high school (August 2005) when we were both juniors.
When did you know he was the one and vice versa?
In January of 2015.
How did he propose?
He proposed with a Caricature artist at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. Roger was having his caricature drawn. So I joined, of course. Not thinking of anything, I just sat there and waited…and waited…and waited while the guy was drawing us. Hannah kept taking pictures of it and of us to “send to her brother’s girlfriend.” And people were walking by staring at the picture. I was imagining how bad it looked…
The guy took FOREVER…but finally he finished. He asked us if we were ready to see the picture. Roger reached for his pocket, I thought to pull out his wallet to pay the guy. The guy flipped the picture around and Roger waited like half a second, then jumped up and got down on one knee. I saw in the corner of the picture “Will you marry me?” Roger mumbled something like “Emily, I love you with all my heart. Will you marry me?,” and opened the ring box to reveal a beautiful ultra sparkly ring. I thought I was supposed to cry so I tried, and I asked him if he was serious (not sure why I did…), but I was just so happy and excited! So of course, I nodded and said YES!!! Followed by a long kiss. Then, we paid for the drawing and got it matted and framed, took a picture together as a newly engaged couple, and continued about our day, in an overly excited manner.
